Horseback riding, babies, and concerts!

Lots to post about! Two weekends ago, I went to my friend Laura's house to ride horses and see my Goddaughter. We had so much fun! Her husband and some of his friends were working in the yard, so they couldn't watch the baby while we rode, but we just took turns. It all worked out. And it was the prettiest day too. Melain got to go on her very first horse ride with her mom. She wasn't sure what to think! I warmed up to the horse too, once we got out in the pasture, I think we both warmed up to each other. We'll definitely be riding again soon!

Then, last Wednesday, Sharon and I went to the Third Day concert! It was great! One of the opening bands, Revive, actually stood around with us after the concert while we were getting pictures and stuff and they chatted with us and wanted to see our pictures from the show. It was cool! We're official groupies now :)

My pictures aren't wanting to cooperate, so instead of having them throughout, I'll just post them at the bottom :(

Surgery is still scheduled for next Thursday. I have to go Monday for blood work, and then Wednesday for my pre-op appointment. I have to make sure I don't have any questions for him on Wednesday. Laura's coming in Tuesday to take care of her baby sister, but I'm hoping I won't need too much taken care of. I'm scared to do too much research online, I don't want to scare myself, but I do want to know what to expect. I'll do a cautionary amount and stop if I get too scared.

My work schedule has changed quite a bit starting this week. Instead of working crazy hours Monday through Friday, now I'm working 2pm-10:30pm Tuesday through Saturday. I'm really not a big fan of working on the weekends, but there's not much I can do now. Once surgery bills are paid and everything is taken care of there, I'll probably make a decision about another job or school or something. We'll see! I just hate not being able to do anything on the weekends. Next week they're letting me work my old schedule so I won't have to take off Thursday, Friday AND Saturday, just Thursday and Friday, then I'll go back on Tuesday the week after.

This is my head....again

So my Cat Scan was today, and those are the coolest things ever! I talked at length with the guy that did the test, just about school and stuff, getting ideas of what's out there. I don't know if I could do that though, since I never was really good at the biologies with Nursing...but he gave me hope cause he said he didn't go back to school until he was in his 30s. Gives me hope that there is more out there and I don't have to be completely done!

Anyway, here's the scans. It's cool to watch them as a "movie", but I did take some of the shots out just to show where the problem(s) are/is. First one is looking from the bottom of my head, upwards. The second is from the back of my head looking forwards.



If you look closely, see how the left side (right side on me) has some cloudy stuff where the right side is completely clear? That's all fluid.



And in these pictures, you can see the septum and how it is curved. That line going down the middle? It's supposed to be straight. Lol, it's kind of humorous.



And I had to put this one on here, just cause it's a little cool/freaky. I never knew you could see eyelids in these things!

Vertigo

My uncle sent this to me in an email and I must say it's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time...

This is my head.

So this morning was my ENT appointment. I am in love with that man! He's wonderful! They took a pretty detailed history and asked why I was there today. I explained that I can't keep away from sinus infections and sinus troubles. They took 2 x-rays, and then the doc came in to see me.



According to the films, I have a deviated septum. If you click the picture you can see it more clearly. The line running down the middle of the nose should be straight. It's not. It "buckles" as he put it, off to the left side (right side in the picture). You can also tell in the picture that my cheek is cloudy on that side too. Cloudier than the other side. The next step is to have a CAT scan of my sinuses to see if the deviation is enough to cause the ongoing problems. If it is, he'll correct is surgically. If not, we'll have to keep trying different medications to see what will help.

As for the feeling of this lump in my throat, he said it's most likely called a cricopharyngeal spasm. The medicine I'm on right now, augmentin, can induce symptoms of reflux, even if you don't have any preexisting problems. The flap at the top of the esophagus that prevents acid from entering the throat can spasm, causing the feeling of a lump or ball right below the adam's apple. It's very annoying, but I suppose it'll go away on its on.

My scan is scheduled for Tuesday. He said they'll burn it to a DVD and then I have to follow up at his office the 17th for us to go over it together. A part of me wishes he'll have to fix it surgically. I've always joked I wanted a nose job, but if it will medically help me get better, I'm all for it!

I've been on the prowl for a week or so for bloggers like me. While I know I'm different and am my own person, sometimes it'd be nice to come across another single, early-20s college graduate who's trying to find their place in the world. That too much to ask? That being said, I've found some rather hilarious blogs of some singles. They may not have the same beliefs or interests as I do, but they sure are good for a few laughs!

Anyone catch Idol tonight? Once again, David Archuleta did an excellent job! In fact, all the guys did pretty well. I'm curious to see how the girls do tomorrow and who gets the boot Thursday. Hopefully we'll get to watch it at work.

There's not too much going on today, not much to write about it. Sorry if I'm boring you!

Well, I had the best of intentions of posting this at exactly 9:39, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. So, better late than never...

Happy birthday my sweet boy. You may not be blood, but you're my first nephew and you'll always be my baby. I love you!
