I'm house-sitting this weekend for some friends while they're out of town. It's been so nice having my own "place" for the last two days. Very peaceful!



I got a text yesterday from my friend Laura inviting me to come out to their house for dinner that night. She said she was cooking lasagna, so of course I told her I'd be there. I got there and played with the baby while she was cooking. A little bit later, after her husband Stan got there, she said "Okay, we kind of had an ulterior motive for asking you out here." I figured she was trying to set me up with someone. I was like "um, uh oh....okay...?" She looked at Stan and smiled and then looked back at me and said "We were wondering if you'd like to be Melain's (the baby) Godmother." Ahhh! I was so surprised! I gasped and then in the next breath I said "wait--I'm not Catholic!" She told me that was fine, because she was going to ask her brother to be her Godfather, and only one has to be Catholic. So it works out perfectly! I'm so excited! She's just the most precious little girl...

The moon was so bright tonight. Laura was loading up her car and I noticed it. Being the amateur photographer that I am, of course the gazillion pictures I took didn't do it justice. This one came the closest. It's still kind of dull. Still pretty though.

The other day I was driving around town looking for rent signs, and ended up over by work. There is a small complex within spitting distance from work, so I called and they had a 1 bedroom. The next day I went by to look at it. The rent is very decent, and I won't likely find one close to that price again. The only bad thing is that once I got home and worked out a budget, all my money was sucked down the drain, and that was before groceries and gas was figured in. Dad walked in the house about the time I was going crazy, and he thought about it while he went walking. When he came back, he said he'd had an epiphany. Here's our plan: for the next 3 months, I'll start paying dad the same bills I would have to pay if I moved out; rent, bills, etc. After that, I'll have to budget what's left over and make sure I can still pay other bills (car note, insurance) and survive. Dad's thinking is the worst thing I can do is sign a lease on a place, and then realize two months into it that I can't afford it. Then I'm screwed. So, I'll do this, and after 3 months we'll re-evaluate and see how my budget is. If I can afford it, I'll get back all the money I've been paying dad, and that will go towards either putting a big dent in school loans, or putting it all up in a CD or something. We'll see what happens!


In other news, Laura came home last night, but she had to leave tonight. It was last minute. She got an email from one of her teachers that she had a meeting in the morning. But she brought the pooch, so we all got to see the newest member of the family. He's quite entertaining!

I need to reschedule my appointment with the ENT sometime soon. I'm starting to get a scratchy throat and my eyes have been itching too. I had pink eye a few weeks ago, so whenever my eyes act up I immediately think pink eye, but I think it's just allergies this time. I haven't even been around pink eye recently, so.

This week has not started off all that great for me! I went to work Monday, only to leave after an hour. I felt like poo! Just one of those blah days I suppose. Since I was right there at work still, that's when I went to look at the apartment, then came home and proceeded to get depressed. Then today, I was supposed to be at work at 7, and sure enough I woke up at 6:50. If it was a schoolday, I would've just thrown on some clothes and not given it a second thought, but I have to look somewhat presentable, so I had to take a quick shower and get dressed. I got to work by 7:35, but the stupid computer wouldn't take my password and I had to call to get that changed. Then I spilled coffee all over my cubicle, and then one of my first calls cussed me out. Just lovely! They day slowly got better, and I at least was able to leave at 3:30. Went out to eat with some friends, and had a good time. Some weren't able to make it due to a very fussy 3 month old. Gas bubbles sure do hurt at that age!

Anyway, more to come...

When I was about 18 months old, mom caught me getting into something I shouldn't have been into. I can't remember exactly what it was, dishes maybe? Anyway, she threatened me and told me to stop, but of course I didn't. She threatened me again, and again, I didn't stop. Finally she said "Amie if you don't get out of that I'm going to spank your bottom!" I turned around, looked her up and down, thought about it, and then said "How hard?"

It's been an ongoing joke growing up...if she asks me to do something and tells me if I don't do it I will be punished, I always come back with "well, what's the punishment?"

I got home from work the other night. It was around 11, everyone was in bed, all the lights were out. I go in the bathroom to wash my face, and I find this taped to the mirror:




I laughed for a good 10 minutes.

Whew! Boy am I glad to be home! I had a busy weekend starting yesterday. I worked from 7-3:30, and left not long after that for Shreveport. I got there around 6:30 and met up with Heather and Cameron. We checked into the hotel and just hung out. Poor little man had dental surgery that morning, so he wasn't up to doing too much. He got 4 crowns put on his front 4 teeth, and then 4 caps on his side teeth. According to his dentist, all his breathing treatments for his asthma caused his teeth to dry out, which contributed to him having all this work done. Heather and I are a little concerned about his front teeth, they don't look real straight, but we're hoping they're just swollen and will look better in a few days. They go for a follow-up visit in 10 days.

Saturday morning we got up and got dressed, and around 9:30 Heather's sister Andi showed up with her two girls. We all had tickets to go see the Hannah Montana 3D movie. They all LOVE her! We went by the store and got some drinks and snacks and headed to the Boardwalk! We were really early and were expecting a really long line, but there was no line to pick up our tickets. We got our 3D glasses and headed on in. I was thinking it was going to be the old school 3D with those paper glasses with the red and blue film in them...but this was like high-tech 3d, it was really awesome! The movie was basically concert footage, with a little behind the scenes stuff. But the actual concert, it really did feel like you were standing right there! And everyone in the audience was sooo funny. There were a few previews before the movie started, and the previews were in 3D too, so when something jumped out at you, all the little kids in the audience started screaming. It was pretty neat.

We left the theater around 12:30 and headed out to the Boardwalk to try to find somewhere to eat. We found the carousel at the end, and Shelbee and Cameron both wanted to ride, so we did that. All the restaurants had too long of a wait, so we just got back in our cars and decided to just find something on the way out of town. We ended up at Ruby Tuesdays. The food was alright, but the service was terrible. The kids were cute though. I got a ton of good shots both
days!
