When Ahmee's bored

This is what happens when my good friend allows me to take her daughter (and my goddaughter) to church with me, and she spots ponytail holders and begs to have them in her hair. I think it's pretty cute, but the poor baby needs to get some more hair. It's so fine there's not a whole lot you can do with it!

Now if we can only get her to start calling me "Ahmee" instead of "Mamie" we'll have accomplished a lot. Her brother has called me Ahmee since before he was 1, and it stuck. That's all I'm known as with their entire family. The other day she called me Mamie and I corrected her and said Ahmee and she just looked at me and giggled. *Sigh*, that child...

Changeling

I had my first unofficial get together at the new apartment last night. My friends Heather and Suzie came over and we watched a movie. Suzie and I had wanted to see this when it was out in the theaters, but we never made it. We swore when it came out we'd watch it together.

People, this is a good movie, but MAN is it depressing! It's set in the '20s, but I think the most depressing thing about it is the fact that it's based off a true story. When it was over, we all got our computers and looked up the actual story that it was based on, and we were very surprised how accurate the movie was.

Anyway, if you're in for a emotionally draining movie, this one's for you! I'd write a longer post but I'm at work so I have to look busy.

Please read the back story about this little guy here. He came out of that situation fine, but recently came down with a cold that quickly turned very severe. His ugly heart condition seems to have reared its ugly head again, and he needs our prayers right now.

Back when he was so sick in the womb, a name gallery was started for him to show all the people literally all over the world that were praying for him. Version II of that gallery has been started by a fellow blogger, and I thought I'd participate. He's on my mind constantly right now, so I wrote his name on my bathroom mirror after my shower this morning.

Busy bee

Okay, okay. I know it's been forever since I've posted something. Lots has been going on! I don't have internet at the apartment yet, but I'm hoping to rectify that by next week. Hopefully. Now that this kind of thing is coming out of my pocket, I think verrry hard about what I purchase :)

The apartment is FANTASTIC! We had some drama the other night with some guys breaking into vehicles in the parking lot, but I told myself that could happen anywhere. I have protection and know how to use it, and I do feel safe. I've met a few of my neighbors and they are all nice people. I feel comfortable.

Pictures are coming soon. I just got my couch in this past weekend, so I'm trying to figure out how I want to arrange everything, and then I'll put some pictures up. Don't get your hopes up, it's nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination...but it's my place. My first place.

So. How's everyone else doing?

Home sweet home....sorta

I was trying to wait until I was completely moved in before I posted again, just so I could put up pictures. I'm almost there, so I gave in and decided to get on here.

Most of the furniture is there (bed, dresser, chest of drawers). In the morning, dad's going to help me load up the TV, dining table and chairs, and the few boxes of dishes I have. Next weekend we'll probably go get my couch and recliner, they're at Granny's house about an hour away.

I can't wait to get all the little things I need to get settled, and then start buying accessories! I'm looking at rugs, lamps, and other things. I'm a little overwhelmed though, I have no decorating sense at all.

Yay!!!!!

So after 24 years of living with my parents (minus 1 year of living in the dorms on campus back in '02-'03), I'm finally moving out. I couldn't be more thrilled! I've been hunting for a place since the beginning of the year, but today signed a lease on a modest 1 bedroom apartment. My very own place! It's not perfect by any means, the carpet is a little shaggy, the walls are the wood paneling....but it's MINE! I put the deposit down about an hour ago.

The ironic thing is that the guy that lives there now is actually a friend of mine from work. He just bought a house, so he's in the process of moving out. Then they have to clean the place and make any repairs, and then I get to move in!

Next comes the daunting task of managing my money. Maybe I'll use and abuse my CPA friend :)

Now. Who wants to help me decorate?

Brothers

My sister emailed me this picture today. The pup on the left is Archie, her newest rescue. The black rascal is Einstein, she's had him for about 2 years. Her vet had Archie for 2 months after someone rescued him off the road. He was nursed back to health, but no one wanted him. Laura told them she would take him.

Einstein wasn't too sure about things at first, but I think he's coming around...;)
