We got to the Vidalia RV park a little after 1pm, set up the RV and made sure everything was level, called Laura's husband to reassure him we didn't break his baby, and headed across the bridge to Natchez. We stopped at Fat Mama's, who are known for their "Knock You Naked Margaritas". I ordered one, but could only drink a few sips. We all had tamales, which were so good. After that we went to the Natchez Visitor's Center to get tickets to be able to get into the festival that night. We had no idea what to expect.
We all figured we'd be watching the balloons from a good distance away. No siree, we got up close and personal! They blow up the balloons in the same yard/field where the festival is. It was AWESOME! Friday night was the Balloon Glow, so they all got blown up and then lit their fires at the same time when the dj counted down. It was so neat! We all got some great pictures.
Saturday morning Laura and Angie met up with a guy they met who flew for Curves, and had said Laura could ride with him. She ended up not being able to, but they became honorary members of his chase crew, and tried to find him after he landed from the morning flight. Shari and I stayed behind in the RV, because we really didn't want to get up at 5:30am on a Saturday. We ended up walking down the levy down to the bridge and just sightseeing and people watching. We had fun, but boy do my legs hurt. We walked probably 3 or 4 miles. I'm in such bad shape!

Saturday afternoon we went out for lunch and drove around the town just hanging out. There was a "barge drop" that afternoon and we wanted to find the perfect spot for watching it. My old college roommate lives there, so I called her and she gave us a general direction to be looking. We got a great spot for pictures, so we parked and stayed there for a while.
Shari had wanted to go on the Natchez Ghost Tour, so we called and booked that for that night. We left at 7:30 and got on a bus with 30 other people and drove around looking at old "haunted" mansions downtown. It was interesting to hear the history behind the houses, but Laura and Angie both said they fell asleep in the dark bus. I did too for a few minutes!
This morning, we had the BEST ending to the weekend. We knew there was another flight this morning but we didn't know where. Angie had gone up to the park office for something, and Shari happened to look out the RV window and saw a balloon in the sky. She casually mentioned it, and then looked harder and saw the sky was FULL of balloons! They were doing another drop, and the target was right in our RV park! There was a sky full of balloons flying directly over us. We jumped out of bed, threw on sweatshirts and hats and shoes and ran to the levy to watch. It was neat! We couldn't have asked for a better ending to the trip. Or better weather the entire weekend!
Just to give you an idea of how many pictures I took, I filled up an entire memory card on my camera, and there were 2 other cameras there too. We're all going to share and compare pictures. I can't wait to see what they have. More pictures to come!!
