I didn't watch this as it happened, but sure have heard about it. How adorable is that, and you KNOW she's seen mom do it a few times!

rain, rain, go away

Most of the bad storms wereto the east of us, but quickly moved our way. We never lost power last night, but the lights did flicker quite a few times. I think the longest they went out was for about 30 seconds. Just long enough to reset everything!!

All it did was rain today, but it did lots of it! There were tons of places underwater, and several co-workers had to leave early because they got word that their houses/apartments were taking in water. I hope there was no major damage. I was afraid of what the conditions were like on my way home, so dad met me at work when I got off. He was either going to take me home and we'd leave my car there, or I'd just follow him. We opted for the latter. It was raining pretty hard, but still manageable. I was going about 45 on the interstate!

Here are a few pictures. Our neighborhood has a "lake" in the middle, and these were two of the docks that some people have. I don't think I've ever seen it this high! The overflow is supposed to go under the road where I was taking the pictures, and then down to a drainage ditch, but with all that water flowing under the road, I'll be surprised if it doesn't wash it out altogether. Here's the pool in the backyard. I think the only time I've seen the water that high was either back when we got rain from Katrina, although I don't really remember it raining all that much. Only other time would be about 2 years ago when it literally rained almost every day in June.

This little guy was waiting on the door as I went back inside. Isn't he cute?!

Fairy Princess

I got to see my goddaughter today. She's just so dang cute :) I kept her for a little while this afternoon between church while her mom ran some errands. I just had to show her off!

Little Buddy

Before you read this, you might want to go back and get a little history, then you can continue..

Mom called me when I was about 2 minutes from the house tonight. I told her I was almost home and she said “okay I’ll just wait until you get here”.

I walk into the house, she points to a jar on the coffee table. “Look inside”, she says, with a little smirk on her face. Knowing how she likes to torment me and my possibly irrational fear of spiders, I told her I didn’t want to. I made sure to stay back in case whatever was in the jar decided to go into attack mode. I looked closer though, and saw my little friend from a few weeks ago.

Dad said he saw him wandering down the hall and then went underneath the door in Laura’s old room. They followed him in there and mom helped him catch him. He said from the way I described him, he expected this little fella to be about 6 inches long. He then proceeded to tell me that this particular gecko was a baby, which meant his mommy and daddy and brothers and sisters were around here somewhere. I guess since my research on the little guy I’m not quite as nervous. In fact, one article I read said that some people keep 4 or 5 of these things as pets because they eat all the other bugs in the house. Hmm, maybe that’s an idea!

Anyway, I let him go out in the neighborhood. He scurried off like he was happy to be out of the jar. I'm sure he was!

I tell ya, the excitement never ends around here!

Overseas?

So according to my StatCounter, I have a reader all the way in Europe. How cool is that! I'm not sure who it is, but it's still pretty nifty. So, whoever you are, stop lurking and leave a comment! =D

My weekend was busy! Went to a birthday party Saturday morning, then to lunch with some local friends and out of town friends, then went home to start many loads of laundry. Then back out to another friends' house to hang out. I was exhausted by the time I finally got home for the night. Sunday I had church and then came home and took a much needed nap. Then church again that night. I had a bad headache and was actually in bed before midnight...and if you know me, you know that's waaay earlier than normal.

Now it's Monday, yet another work week. I'm not looking forward to it at all!

Not a lot..

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. There's just not a whole lot going on. Work is the same. Life is the same. I wish something would happen!

Wait.

I take that back. I don't want anything to happen, God!! Wishing for something to happen could be pretty dangerous. Kind of like praying for patience...not the best idea!

I guess the most exciting thing is that my sister finally bought a house! She's been trying for the past few months, and things would always fall through at the last minute. But she was finally able to close and now holds the keys to her very own cute little abode! I can't wait to help her decorate :) If I can ever find the time to make it up there..
