Okay for those of you who keep up with this thing, don't harp on me about not updating like I should. I've been so busy!

Mom and dad left last Friday morning for California. They were taking dad's friend Mr. Jim's (he died of cancer last year) big 4-door truck to Fresno where his daughter Skye (we went to high school together) is in graduate school. Skye drives a really small truck right now and wanted her daddy's truck, but her mom didn't feel comfortable driving it out there, so mom and dad offered. They had the time and love to travel, so it was a good excuse for them to get away. So they drove out there and got to Skye's apartment on Sunday. They checked in of course every so often, went sight-seeing, went to Yosemite and all that fun stuff, and then called today to say they were headed out of Fresno and should be home on Saturday.

I'll be the first to say that I have absolutely LOVED having the house to myself. I've even been cleaning and doing laundry and loading/unloading the dishwasher--something mom has to BEG me to do when they're here. It's kind of a necessity when you're home alone :)

For a while now I've been wanting to redecorate my bedroom. I didn't want to do anything too drastic since I won't be home too much longer, but I was in desperate need of a change. I've always said that when I got my own apartment I would want to decorate it with the style of Pier 1. I just LOVE their stuff! I love that whole sleek, modern look. Soo, I decided to take an old bed we got from Granny's house and paint it black. I love the look of platform beds, but I can't afford to buy one right now, and this bed has a really short footboard, so it kind of resembles one. So Thursday night I got mom to help me get it down from the attic. We got the footboard down and I propped it up against the garage wall. I thought I had propped it up well enough, but next thing I know it fell on top of my bare foot. Can we say OW! I had a cut right under my big toe, and it started swelling pretty bad. I cried like a little girl, I won't lie :) Anyway, today is Wednesday and it still has a pretty nasty bruise there. I've toyed with going to the dr to get it x-rayed to make sure I didn't break it, but I haven't decided if I'm going to or not. It still hurts a good bit, but nothing like it was.

So after mom and dad left I went to the store and got some spray paint and sandpaper. Laura (my sister Laura, for all you other Lauras that read this) said I probably didn't need to sand it down all the way, just scuff it a little. I did that, painted both pieces and let them dry. Afterwards I noticed that when I rubbed it, the paint came off on my hands. I didn't know what I was doing, so I got some sealer, or what i thought was sealer, and sprayed that on there. Didn't work. So tonight after church I went to Home Depot, got some gray primer and black paint, primed the two pieces tonight and will paint them tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully that will do the trick. My next decision is what kind of new bedding I should get. I thought about getting white sheets and a black comforter, but some stores have some neat striped bed-in-a-bag that are really cute. I don't know, I'm so indecisive!

Next Saturday, the 4th, is my 23rd birthday! Wow, I'm old :) A couple at church has a "camp" on Caney Lake and said I could use it any time if I wanted. I've been out there once before, it's a really nice 2 bedroom house with a kitchen and everything. A friend from work has a birthday at the end of this month, so we think we may see if we can use the camp in about 3 weeks and get a big group to go down there and just have a double birthday get-together. Stay at the camp at nighttime and go to the "beach" during the day. And if anyone that's going has a boat, that's even better :)

Let's see...what else....summer school is OVER! I finished up my final online yesterday, all I have to do is wait for him to grade it. I should end up with a very decent grade there. The regular semester starts August 20th, so I have a little break before then. And it's my last semester! My classes shouldn't be that difficult. I have the best schedule on Tuesdays and Thurdsays...only 1 class and it's not until 12:30! I will definitely be sleeping late those days, unless I decide to work an early shift. I may do that actually, that way when I get out of class my day is over. Sounds nice now, but it might not be that nice when I have to be at work at 6AM.

Anyway, it's after midnight now, so I need to sign off....'night all!
